Korean Fried Chicken has become increasingly popular worldwide. When visiting South Korea, you can stop by these restaurants to experience the real deal!

Hanchu Fried Chicken

If you want a place that locals like, you can try out Hanchu Fried Chicken. Keep in mind that this is not a location to go for a lunch break because it only opens at 5 p.m. (It also closes at 3 a.m.)

This is more of a place to go after work to have a beer with friends and eat their delectable fried cuisine.

Hanchu Chicken’s interior is extremely modest, resembling a family-run restaurant with dozens of wooden tables and chairs.

Sakusaku

They serve soy garlic fried chicken, honey chicken, ordinary fried chicken, French fries, and various Korean side dishes, but the emphasis is on chicken. Their dipping sauce is also delicious, and the amounts are generous.

Their chicken is super crispy and never dry. The plain with honey mustard sauce and the soy garlic chicken is a good recommendation.

The staff is exceptionally kind, and they like children. Simply bring someone who speaks Korean with you or point to the pictures. They don’t comprehend “fries,” so simply say “potato” or show them a picture of fries on your phone!

Nekkid Wings

The from this Korean fried chicken restautant is pretty huge, and it gets quite crowded on weekend nights. Because all of the wings serving is on enormous platter-like boards, it’s ideal to go with friends.

There are 11 distinct sauce flavors on the menu. A unique feature of this place is that you can choose a new flavor for every five wings you order, so even if you just ordered ten, you’d get to experience two different sauce flavors. The wings have a crispy surface and delicious white meat on the inside.

Chicken In The Kitchen

Chicken in the Kitchen, made popular on local television for using a fresh batch of oil for every fry, has larger, juicier slices of bird than typical fried chicken restaurants in South Korea.

Hot chili pepper chicken wrapped with a sweet marinade and spices is especially popular with heat junkies. Although beer is available, the colorful design and low-key atmosphere make it ideal for families.

Mad Fry Chicken

Mad Fry Chicken is one of Gangnam’s greatest Korean fried chicken restaurants. This chicken restaurant is distinguished by its crispy skin, succulent meat, and specialty sauces. Many people come to eat Chi-maek because it is open until 3 a.m.

We recommend the Original fried chicken and the garlic soy fried chicken if you want to try something new. The original fried chicken is marinated in garlic and soy sauce, resulting in a sweet and delicious flavor that everyone enjoys.

They have five branches within South Korea.

New Charcoal Chicken

This unique place has been serving its customers since 1988 and still cooks one chicken at a time. Because each chicken is prepared for the customers’ orders, it may take some time to get your hands on one.

To create a fresh and delightful experience, local chickens, garlic, ginger, and onion are used. The original deep-fried chicken is curry-flavored, and the crunchy texture is a source of pride. New Charcoal Chicken fries up some wonderful thick-sliced potato chunks with their chicken, giving another flavor element to the mix.

Geoin Tongdak

One of Busan’s most well-known chicken eateries has kept customers returning to its Bupyeong Market location for three generations. Since its inception, Geoin Tondak, which translates to “huge chicken,” has cooked its distinctive deep-fried chicken (18,000 won) in a gamasot (traditional iron pot).

The end product is an extremely crispy texture of the coating, which is enhanced by the curry powder incorporated into the chicken batter. Only large, domestically bred chickens are used, assuring that diners receive a fresh, plentiful dinner.

With the proliferation of modern franchise chicken shops over the years, a visit to Geoin Tongdak gives a wonderful, valuable bit of nostalgia. However, the Nampo-dong landmark grew in popularity after it was labeled a Busan specialty on TV and online. Because of its popularity, only takeout is presently offered.

Heemang Tongdak

For the past 30 years, Heemang Tongdak, or “hopeful chicken,” has been preparing excellent meals. They are popular for their dak-ttongjip (chicken gizzard), which comes with a coating of sauce with a delectable spice combination and fried until crispy.

They are located in Dongnae-gu (district). Heemang Tongdak’s fried chicken and spicy-sweet marinated chicken is also popular.

Their chicken dishes range between 16,000 and 17,000 won. Heemang Tongdak cooks its chicken the old-fashioned technique, with a thin batter and high-quality oil, resulting in chicken that is extremely crisp and brighter in color than most fried chickens.

The two-story restaurant was recently refurbished, and its straightforward layout facilitates ordering. However, as with many popular places advertised on Korean television, there may be a bit of a wait.

DDOBAGI

Ddobagi is one of the best-value restaurants in Seoul, with quantities that you can be share with friends as an after-dinner snack or a complete meal on your own. The Sangsu location has a modest design with black furnishings and bright lighting.

Some fried chicken can be dry on the inside, but this is one of the Korean fried chicken restaurants that has a wonderful balance of crispy skin to moist meat. The majority of groups order half-and-half combos, combining the classic fried with soy-marinated or sweet-marinated chicken.

Mirak Chicken

Mirak Chicken has the most devoted fans of any of Seoul’s famed Korean fried chicken restaurants. It offers three styles of fried chicken: crispy, marinated, and garlic-topped, with the latter being the most popular.

The garlic-pan chicken is glazed with delicious, half-roasted whole garlic pieces and served on a sizzling cast-iron skillet. It tastes virtually raw when you bite into the whole garlic, yet Mirak lovers swear by it.

However, if you dislike too much garlic, the other two variants are also excellent. Pair with cool drinks, and be prepared for long lines!
